In all spheres of our practices, we train our very capable staff in the appropriate skills needed to aid and advise our patients. We have supported many staff into professional qualifications.
Qualified from City University in London in 1980. He did his pre-registration year in Hertfordshire, before returning to the West Midlands to build Peter Bainbridge Opticians. He built up the group of practices throughout the region that we now know as Bainbridge Optometrists. Peter now sits on several Local Optometric Committees, is employed as an examiner for the next generation of Optometrists and supervises many pre-registration Optometrists towards the next step in their careers. Peter is working very hard, on behalf of his profession, to increase the clinical side of eye care in Optometry, especially within Bainbridge Optometrists..
Mr Peter Bainbridge won Optometrist of the year in the 2012 AOP awards. Click Here for the full review!
Qualified from Cardiff University in 2006. After his pre-registration year, being supervised by his father, Peter, he took over the running of the Redditch practice, as well as working reguarly at our Harborne. He discovered a similar interest in extending clinical eye care within Bainbridge Optometrists. Steve has been approved by Worcestershire ophthalmology to do the slit lamp diabetic retinopathy screening for failed photographic methods. To extend his own knowledge, and to improve the standard of care to his patients, Steve has successfully completed his Masters in Optometry..
Amy Bainbridge nee Matthews joined the company in 2007 and has gone on to become a qualified Dispensing Optician (2010) and general manager of the Bainbridge Optometrists group. She is broadly based in our Redditch practice and has overseen many improvements to premises and services that we now provide.
Ella joined Bainbridge Optometrists in 2009 with no optical experience and has since been supported through three different optical courses. She qualified as a dispensing optician in 2015 and she very much enjoys having the opportunity to spend time with new and exisiting patients to help them make informed decisions about their eyewear and eye care.
Laura qualified as an Optometrist in 2012 after completing her pre-registration under the supervision of Mr Peter Bainbridge. During her training, Laura volunteered to travel to Romania and Moldova to assist in eye examinations and spectacle dispensing for those who do not normally have access to such provisions. Laura has a warm and professional approach to eyecare and describes optometry as a fascinating and rewarding career.
Throughout our practices we have many staff who have obtained the necessary qualifications to perform diabetic retinopathy photographic screening. These screeners continue their studies by completing their City & Guilds qualification in diabetic retinopathy screening.
We have our own workshop above our Bearwood branch where we prepare spectacles for your use. Using our own workshop means that we can offer a fast and reliable service, ensuring that patients are kept up to date with the progress of their order. For lenses that have already been prepared, we can offer a next day delivery service to any of our practices or a sit and wait service in Bearwood for a small fee. Wayne has led the glazing team since 1996 and takes pride in hand finishing every job to the highest standard. Jeanette specialises in lens availability, finding the best lenses for high or unusual prescriptions.
As an organisation that is dedicated to training we employ the best of the next generation of optometrists. We interview for the best suited candidate, and supervise their further training, towards the final qualifying professional exams. Every pre-registration test with a patient is over an extended time (usually 45 minutes) so that the new optometrist feels under no time pressure, and misses nothing.
